Collins View NET (CVNET)

This is a timeline for the formation of CVNET, past and present team leads, various inventions, exercises, and outreach efforts. For a city-wide PBEM-NET timeline, see this [PDF]

• 2011: Collins View NET Individuals volunteered for deployments from the very early days of PBEM/NET, but the Collins View NET Neighborhood Team was established by Bob Fischer in 2011.
• 2012: BEECN Node #33 was established at Riverdale High School.
• 2015: collinsview.org/NET was established with NET news, info, and updates. J.Miller Webmaster.
• 2021: Marshall Park NET & Riverdale NET joined Collins View NET.
• 2024: Riverdale NET is officially its own team. Louise Rosen is Team Lead.

Team Leads

Bob Fischer was CVNET Team Lead from 2011 through 12/01/2023.

Brenda Nuckton became team lead on 12/01/2023.

CVNET “inventions” for organizing Team emergency response

• 2012: Extensive use of radios: (UHF (Amateur Radio Operators – HAMS) FRS GMRS) for team communications.
• 2018: “Structured Neighborhood Assessment Plan” (SNAP) Maps by Ralph Read. Neighborhood Sector Maps and charts for NETs’ damage assessments en route to staging area.
• 2018: 50 gallon water barrels campaign.
• 2018: Clipboxes have everything a person needs to fulfill the duties at Staging Area stations.
• 2018: Role cards for NET duties in staging area.
• 2022: Staging area station signs.
• 2023: Hanging supply pouches for Staging Area First Aid Station.
• 2023: First Aid Cache Barrels in 5 Neighborhood Pods.

CVNET Team Exercises and Outreach

Collins View NET Individuals participated in CityWide NET deployments and exercises before the CV Neighborhood Team was established.

OCTOBER 14, 2018 - City-Wide deployment exercise. Staging Area was St. Mark Church Parking lot. See story [HERE]

2020—2022 Covid Hiatus on public gatherings.

APRIL 2, 2022 - Collins View NET members had a table at The Tryon Creek State Park Trillium Festival, handing out info brochures. See story [HERE]

AUGUST 27, 2022 - 25 Members from SW NET teams participated in an In-Person exercise at the Staging Area St Mark Church. See text and photos [HERE]

OCTOBER 8, 2023 - 25 Members from several SW NET teams signed up and 23 people participated in the Collins View boots-on-the-ground exercise. Riverdale High School parking lot was the Staging Area. See text and photos [HERE]
